Next Spokes Ride

Sunday 7th November 2021. Meet at 10:00 outside the Usher Hall, Lothian Rd.

Destination Wast Lothian. Slightly hilly ride, with few inclines but not too steep. Cycle path out of Edinburgh then mostly roads. Distance will be around 64km (40 miles). Lunch in a café.

Forecast will be updated nearer the time.

Please check your bike before the ride, i.e. tyre pressure, chain and brakes. Bring some money for emergencies and café stops and/or post ride refreshments. Don't forget snacks to keep your energy levels up and a drink to consume en-route.

Don't forget to bring a small toolkit to fit your bike and a spare inner tube in case you get a puncture. It is much easier to replace the tube than to repair a tube, especially if you have a slow puncture.

Spokes Sunday Bikes Rides

First Sunday of every month (Except if the First Sunday is January 1st, then the ride will take place a week later, on January 8th). Meet at 10am, at the Usher Hall, Lothian Road.

Free guided bike rides along cycles paths and quiet roads to destinations in The Lothians, Fife or The Borders. Come along and experience the glorious Scottish countryside first hand with friendly people.Rides are fairly gentle, 35 to 45 miles or so, speed 10 to 12 mph. Lunch at pub/cafe, or bring picnic if the weather is warm. Normally return to Edinburgh at around 4pm in Winter, 5pm in Spring and Autumn and a bit later in Summer, bit no later than 6pm.

We show the way, help with mechanical malfunctions, wait for the less speedy and try to ensure all have a wonderful time! Cycle carefully and considerately. You are entirely responsible for your own safety.

Children under 14, or not used to roads, may only come with an adult. Light showers won’t put us off, but persistent bad weather may mean cancellation.

It is recommended that you bring a spare (intact!!) inner tube and basic toolkit (tyre levers, multi tool puncture repair kit, pump).  It is also recommended that you carry out some basic maintenance on your bike the day before the ride. An example, please see this article for more information: Pre Ride Bike Maintenance
