Next Spokes Ride

Sunday 3rd July 2022. Meet at 10:00 outside the Usher Hall, Lothian Rd.

Destination to be decided on Wednesday. Distance will be around 70km (42 miles). Lunch in a café.

Please check your bike before the ride, i.e. tyre pressure, chain and brakes. Bring some money for emergencies and café stops and/or post ride refreshments. Don't forget snacks to keep your energy levels up and a drink to consume en-route.

Don't forget to bring a small toolkit to fit your bike and a spare inner tube in case you get a puncture. It is much easier to replace the tube than to repair a tube, especially if you have a slow puncture.

A breezy ride to Peebles, one of the longest rides, but absolutely fantastic. Well done to everyone who took part, safe in the knowledge that we only visit Peebles occasionally. Hope you are feeling fine this morning. Photographs showing the nine people who did the whole trip are in Photo Gallery.

have already planned the July ride ;-), no rain this time. 11 people braved the weather ("Fools!" I can hear Neil say) when we went to Penicuik on the May ride. Not our original destination, but an April shower decided that it liked May better!!! The rainfall radar shown after the event (heading north after giving us a soaking. It must have moved fast because it looks pretty big on the radar!!!! So a wetsuit would have been more appropriate gear than cycle shorts. Our original destination was Carlops!

Hope those of you who joined us for the Spokes Ride enjoyed the route we took. A lovely day starting cold at 2degC from the Usher Hall, 13 people went to Mid Calder. The trip back was eventful, our route dictated by the depth of snow.

Hope those of you who turned up on Sunday enjoyed the trip to Silversands Bay at Aberdour. 24 people turned up. Summer weather on the first ride of British Summer Time 2005. It was very nice to see you all.

Frustratingly, the January ride involved a ride to my house for Mince Pies and coffee, due to seasonal weather. We had a lovely Spokes Ride in lovely Scottish Winter weather (yes, we do get good weather now and again!!). Thanks you to all who attended to make this a lovely friendly ride to Leadburn Inn. Special thanks to two people in helping me replace the inner tube on the back wheel after a puncture on the way home. Replacing the tube wasn’t timed, but I was told later that it was under four minutes, so not quite Formula 1 standards just yet then!!!!!
