Next Spokes Ride

Sunday 3rd July 2022. Meet at 10:00 outside the Usher Hall, Lothian Rd.

Destination to be decided on Wednesday. Distance will be around 70km (42 miles). Lunch in a café.

Please check your bike before the ride, i.e. tyre pressure, chain and brakes. Bring some money for emergencies and café stops and/or post ride refreshments. Don't forget snacks to keep your energy levels up and a drink to consume en-route.

Don't forget to bring a small toolkit to fit your bike and a spare inner tube in case you get a puncture. It is much easier to replace the tube than to repair a tube, especially if you have a slow puncture.

Respite from the dissertation

"A journey of 1000 miles must begin with a single crank-turn."

We went to Aberlady. Thanks to everyone who turned up, I hope you enjoyed the bike ride. Sorry if you turned up late and missed us, but we do leave at 10:15. I am very sorry I didn't get your call until a lot later. However, from next month I will have a more prominent place for my mobile on my bike, so hopefully I won't miss texts or calls because I cannot hear the phone buried in my rackpack.

Disserted?

A quick post as I am in the middle of my dissertation. A big thanks to every one who has done my survey, one quote was "I didn't know I did so much on the Internet".

Weather wasn't too bad, a bit of drizzle going up Falside Hill, and light rain as we approached the Hopetoun monument, but nothing bad. A beautiful day in the end, though quite warm and muggy.

Hope everyone got home safely. One person who was looking a bit ill in the morning went AWOL in the afternoon. Partner sent packing to look for them. Then some delay in the afternoon as Alan Davis' tyre exploded (rumours of too much lunch abounded) saw some people head home a more direct route. Other persevered to enjoy ice-cream at Luca's.

Next Saturday, 12th August, Mike Lewis has an Easy Rider.
