Next Spokes Ride

Sunday 1st December 2019. Meet at 10:00 outside the Usher Hall, Lothian Rd.

Destination West Lothian. Slightly hilly ride, with few inclines but not too steep. Cycle path out of Edinburgh then mostly roads. Distance will be around 64km (40 miles).

Lunch at a café so bring money. Alternatively bring a picnic lunch, then join the rest for coffee.

Forecast is dry and sunny, cool. Max Temp 4°C Westerly Wind.

Please check your bike before the ride, i.e. tyre pressure, chain and brakes. Bring some money for emergencies and possible café stops and/or post ride refreshments. Don't forget snacks to keep your energy levels up and a drink to consume en-route.

Don't forget to bring a small toolkit to fit your bike and a spare inner tube in case you get a puncture. It is much easier to replace the tube than to repair a tube, especially if you have a slow puncture.

Weather

This weather forecast is generated by the Met Office Weather Widget

The last Spokes Ride of 2002 took place today, 9 people turning up, despite the lousy weather at 8:30. Raining until we got to Riccarton campus, then blue sky. A bit breezy and a cool 7O Celsius, but Long Dalmahoy Road was not as difficult as it can be at times. The Off Road bits of Route 75 down to, and through, Almondell and Calder Wood Country Park were a bit slippery and muddy.

Thanks to all who turned up on Sunday, we went to Aberdour in Fife in absolutely glorious - for November - weather. Not a cloud most of the time only a few spots of rain in Aberdour & no wind that mattered. Leaves on the trees were a bright yellow and red. A lovelyday to be out on the bike.
